Makepung Lampit began in activities ‘ngelampit’, ie dig out rice field in wet conditions after hoeing with buffalo (nenggala).

In order to banish boredom some people try a small race with buffalo, from time to time then this race known as Makepung.

In general, Makepung Lampit is not much different with the one use dry track. They differ only in the more limited trajectory and wet, and do not use the wagon train for the jockey.
