Bali Airport To Have A Transit Hotel
Bali’s Ngurah Rai airport is under large-scale redevelopment and upgrading to give the customers the best. This configuration will also include the construction of an airport hotel.
According to Kompas.com, Tommy Soetomo, the Director of state-owned company that manages the airport, stated the plan to build the airport hotel is the part of overall redevelopment of Bali’s airport gateway. Tommy’s statements were made at a ceremony where he assumed the responsibility for the Bali Airport from outgoing manager Heru Legowo.
Further, Soetomo explained why the plan to build an airport hotel is considered necessary. “ For example, if a plane is delayed and the passengers need to rest, the hotel will form a part of or the airport’s facilities. Thus the hotel is to meet this need,” Soetomo argued. However he denied the issue of the plan to build a fully-fledged hotel in Ngurah Rai airport. It will only a transit hotel for shower or breakfast not a fully-fledged hotel. “It will only be a transit hotel, not a full-scale hotel…the hotel will be a minor supporting business,” Soetomo continued.
The work of redevelopment had begun on the Rp. 2 trillion (US$222 million) airport redevelopment which include a new terminal covering 130,000 square meters. This upgrading is targeted to be completed before the APEC Economic Corporation Conference to be held in 2013.
