As any other grand ceremonies, Panca Bali Krama ceremony has to be conducted in a holy environment. During the preparation and the execution of this ceremony the spiritual atmosphere of Bali has to be kept as holy as possible that means no cremation ceremony is allowed in the island since death is believed to pollute the atmosphere.

To ensure the holiness of this ceremony, the premeditated cremation ceremony can only be held until February 13, 2009. For those who pass away between 13th and 20th February 2009, emergency cremation ceremonies are allowed to be held. As for those who pass away after February 20, 2009, their corpses have to be buried as soon as possible no cremation ceremony is allowed.
