Wedding Invitation

In old days invitation to a wedding ceremony or other kind of ceremonies does not involve invitation card. The invitation is done by sending a package of food with a verbal invitation to the invitee by the representative of the groom’s family. The package usually consists of rice, lawar and satay. The importance of the invitee is expressed the number of the satay in the package he /she received. The more satay in the package the more importance the invitee is. Nowadays, this system is used to invite, relatives, members of the clan, banjar or village. For friends, colleagues, and business partners, etc it is the invitation card that does the task.

The invitation card that is sent usually conveys the prestige of the couple, it is always artistically designed; for wealthier couple, it is completed with photos, elaborate packaging, perfume, even a melodic ringtone when it is opened. Some creative couples use handicraft products such as fan as invitation as well as souvenir for the invitee.

The innovations of the invitation card for the wedding ceremony are endless, so don’t be surprised if you receive a “unique” wedding invitation card from your Balinese friend.
