Indeed the Pemuteran area is a fine place to be. The sea is calm, so swimming in front of your hotel is a good option. Also snorkling and watching corals a few meters from the beach is a possibility in some cases (depending on which hotel you are in). Else you go by boat to Pulau Menjangen where you will find paradise underwater. When I was snorkling there the sea was not that calm as there was a strong wind at the moment, depending of the season. But in general the Pemuteran area is a place to be when you are looking for peace and rest.
And when there, don't forget to visit the Bali Barat National Park. Take a hike with a guide who you can hire at the office of the Park at Labuhan Lalang on the road between Pemuteran and Gilimanuk. Great area!
