Perasi: A Secluded White Sand Beach

E-Mail This Post/Page Print This Post/Page

Perasi, a small village near Amlapura, the capital city of Karangasem Regency has a secluded white-sand beach, unknown to the most of travelers to Bali. It is quite difficult to reach the entrance to this quiet beach, since there is no billboard or big sign to indicate the location of the beach, only a small easy-to-miss pointer attached to a post on a gap between the row of buildings; if you can not find this sign what you have to do is get to Perasi village and ask for White sand beach to a local inhabitants which will gladly show you the entrance way.

Perasi Sand Beach

Finding the entrance road is not the end of the ordeals, next you have to experience long winding narrow road flanked by forest which lead you to a check point where you pay 5000 rupiah to enter the beach but you have to experience another km of heavily rutted dirt road among the coconut trees. It is best to use SUV or motorcycle to deal with this bumpy road, for you who drive a sedan or bus it is better to leave your car on the checkpoint. After conquering this heavily rutted dirt road you can park your car on the free spaces among the coconut trees near the beach.

Yes, it is quite difficult to reach this beach but this Perasi white sand beach is worth every single ordeal you take, this beach is free of peddler and hawkers, only two or three small thatched roof food stall available, the atmosphere and condition will remind you of Kuta in early 70s. This beach is not a stretch of a long beach but rather a secluded beach flanked on both sides by hills and coconut tree plantation on the background.

Perasi White Sand Beach is a truly secluded beach, it is far from everywhere; there were only two food stalls there when I visited this beach in 2007, as for toilet feel free to use the bushes around the beach. This beach is definitely not for travelers who expects good accommodation and facilities always in sight.
