February is the only month of the calendar that once every six years or twice every 11 years will have only full four 7-day weeks. Etymologically, February is the month for purification and it seems true. In Bali, February has a lot of traditional ceremonies and festivities to purify one’s body, mind, soul to be a better man. Celebrates also love in Bali where romance is easily to come.

February 1st Pura Pancering Jagat
On the edge Batur lake, Bali’s ancient village named Trunyan will hold special performance by presenting Barong Brutuk. The costume of this Barong is made from dried banana leaves while the mask is made from coconut shell.

February 3rd Chinese New Year
Every corner of Bali will be decorated with red embellishment exuding cheerfulness a la Chinese. There are many Chinese immigrants in Bali who pay respects to their ancestors and celebrate Chinese New Year festively.

February 11th Special Event in Tenganan Pangringsingan
In Tenganan Pagringsingan renowned for its finest Balinese clothes, people will celebrates Usaba Kasa ceremony in which Abuang Dance will be performed along this ceremony. Girls and Boys from Tenganan will flock the venue to dance Abuang dance together accompanying with Selonding music orchestra. The dance danced by the girls and the boys is the symbol of the beginning of the year.

February 14th Valentine’s Day

February 17th Purnama Sasih Kesanga, Piodalan in Pura Mentik Gunung Lebah
Local folklore said that Mt.Batur used to be called Mt.Lebah. The complex of Pura Bukit Mentik is surrounded by molten lava during a volcanic eruption in 1974. But the temple itself and sacred banyan tree amazingly remained untouched by this act of Mother Nature. The temple is now referred to as the ‘Lucky Temple’. The ceremony in Pura Bukit Mentik is always celebrated for three days period during the full moon in Sasih Kasanga.

February 20th Iron Maiden-The Final Frontier World Tour 2011
Bali will be rock by the presence of Iron Maiden on February 20th in Garuda Wisnu Kencana. This heavy metal band from London will visit Indonesia for the first time in Jakarta and Bali.

February 26th Tumpek Kandang
