Great Photographers Two Exhibitions of Luca Tettoni’s Works
Luca was born in Turin, Northern Italy, and worked as an editor for an Italian publishing company before moving to Asia. He has since become a world-renowned photographer whose work appears in numerous coffee-table books featuring South East Asia’s finest hotels and resorts, spas, homes, tropical gardens, cooking and archeological sites.
The first of these two exhibitions Asian Travels – Black and White Images of Asia” feature works from his travels in Papua New Guinea and Indonesia (including Bali) and the second one is Seeking Serenity which showcases the images he has taken for the Wellness Movement that has swept the world.

Over the years Luca has photographed many of the most exclusive hotels, resorts and spas in the Asia-Pacific region. His keen sense of composition, combined with his technical expertise, captures the desired ambience and brings out the best aspects of interior architecture and design. In his photography of resorts and spas, Luca strives to find imaginative and visually appealing ways to emphasise natural beauty and modern wellness trends.

While residing in Bangkok in the mid-1980s, Luca’s interest in architecture led him to start seeking out and photographing Thai-style houses. His work was published in 1989 in a book entitled “Thai Style”, which became the first of a series of books (published by Rizzoli International Publications )on building exteriors and interiors featuring traditional Asian construction and decorative art and craft. Luca’s sensitive approach to recording Asian style opened the eyes of locals and foreigners alike, and his images have influenced numerous architects and interior designers around the world, who have applied many of the ideas captured through Luca’s lens in hotels, resorts and private homes. . “The Tropical Garden” published by Thames & Hudso was the first book produced on tropical gardens and has since been translated into five languages and he has done books on resorts, hotels and spas of Asia, many of which have been published by Periplus Editions (Bali Houses; Tropical Spa; Bali Modern; Bali Style; and Batik From Courts of Java & Sumatra, to name only a few).

Luca has travelled extensively throughout Asia for more than 25 years, and his work has been featured in numerous guide books and travel magazines published in Europe and Asia. Luca studied archeology before turning to photography, and Asian art has always been his passion. He has worked with some of the most important scholars in this field, such as C. Sivaramumurti and Jean Boisselier, Thierry Zephir and other members of the Ecole Française d’Extrème Orient, who chose him to conduct a complete photographic survey of Cham art in Vietnam and for the official catalogue of the Khmer Museum in Phnom Penh.
His exclusive library of Asian Art includes all major archeological sites of India, Sri Lanka, Burma/Myanmar, Thailand, Vietnam, Indonesia, as well as a wide collection of museum pieces, murals and paintings. His photographs are available for rental.
He undertakes on a regular basis direct assignments to generate images for use in marketing and promotional materials, magazine editorials, and resort- and spa-related books. His books will be available for sale at the exhibition openings and at all Periplus bookshops.
