Songan Agriculture
This village is center of agriculture at this area as it has fertile soil and water. The fresh water from the lake is pumped inland using simple pumps connected by long thin pipes. Mostly farmers cultivate onion, read bean, chili paper, cabbage, tomato, corn. Farmers can do harvesting all year round, because on dry season they still have water from the lake. Onion is more popular as only take 65 days from planting to harvesting.
Fish farming is also seen on the lake side. When I asked the local “What kind of fish do they farm?” He told me “They are Kuramba, Mujair and Karper”.
The road leads to Songan is so narrow and winding – just after Toya Bungkah to north. Pura Ulun Danu Batur nestles at the end of the road. From Songan you can also do trekking and enjoying scenery and beautiful sunrise.
