Gebogan
Gebogan is one of many different kinds of beautiful offerings Balinese women traditionally make. It contains, flowers, fruits, rice, cone-shaped cakes and a roasted chicken. What is included in Gebogan will vary from one part of Bali to another based on local tradition…but the offering is always a gorgeous sight to behold.
The height of a Gebogan offering might be as short as ten centimeters or as high as three meters! Special skill and lots of experience is needed to prepare a truly artful Gebogan. The colors of flowers, selection of fruits, arranging the cakes, correctly placing the chicken with its head pointing skyward, adding woven cocoanut leaves to adorn the offering and the overall shape of the completed offering…all must be carefully considered. Once finished, it is stunning offering, beautiful in every way…and ready to be eaten after it is blessed.
