However, this is not the first time Bali is led by Balinese who had been lived outside Bali. The history has it, Airlangga, a Balinese prince, wedded to a princess from the Kingdom of Kahuripan in East Java. He enthroned as a king of Kahuripan and lived there but in 12th century, his descendants came back to Bali and reign over the paradise island for centuries, with the title “Jaya” (means victory) in their names.

The legacies of these kings in Balinese social and religious life are the celebration Galungan and Kuningan holiday, the introduction of Pawukon calendar which supplemented the Caka solar calendar that have been used by Balinese for centuries.

One of the kings from this dynasty, Jayapangus, married a Chinese princess. This marriage was not just improve the volume of trade between Balinese and Chinese but also gave some influences to Balinese culture such as the introduction of pork-based dishes to Balinese culinary, Chinese coin, and Barong Landung (the sacred gigantic puppet)

The historical event has been repeated, Mangku Pastika, a Balinese who had been lived outside Bali will led the island of God, and it is hoped that Mangku Pastika will bring significant improvement in all aspect of life in Bali as the descendants of Airlangga brought to the paradise island of Bali in the past.
