Kerta Kawat Temple
Among thousands of temples in Bali, there are few functional temples which each has a special relationship with particular a profession such as Kerta Kawat temple that is located in Banyupoh village, Gerogak district, Buleleng regency, which has a special connection to the government or private company officials.
Situated majestically on the foot of a hill, Kerta Kawat temple is a pilgrim place for government or private company officials who want to get an advance in their career since Kerta Kawat temple is believed to be the abode of Batara I Dewa Mentang Yuda or Batara Ngertanin Jagat, or the deity who rule and bestow prosperity to the world, nowadays this honorable deity is popularly called Ida Batara Hakim Agung or the Supreme Judge deity.
Unlike most of the temples in Bali which are divided into three parts (outer, middle and inner courtyard), Kerta Kawat temple is divided into outer and inner courtyard. In the inner courtyard stands the shrine of Batara I Dewa Mentang Yuda or Batara Ngertanin Jagat which is given homage by pilgrims from all over the island especially on the full moon of the fourth month of Caka Calendar (around October) when this temple celebrate its anniversary.
