Maha Bandhana Prasadha: The Apex of Denpasar’s Art and Cultural Events

Denpasar Municipality holds a grand cultural event entitled Maha Bandana Prasadha. This cultural event is held at Puputan Badung square, from 8th – 10th of Oktober 2009. This event comprises of classical art performances such as colossal dance, wayang kulit (shadow puppet), sendratari Ramyana (Ramayana opera), classic gamelan performance; culinary festival; and book fairs that exhibits books on “puputan Badung (King of Badung’s heroic last struggle) and King of Badung’s literary works .

The opening of this grand cultural event is highlighted with parade of Denpasar’s art and cultural legacies entitled “Nyatus Pata Parade” (four corner parade), and a colossal drama performance. 5000 artists from all over Denpasar Municipality are involved in these grand opening performances.

The annual Maha Bandana Prasadha is the apex of Denpasar’s art and cultural events. This year’s Maha Bandhana Prasadha put more emphasis on the conservation of classical art performances that gives more chance to the artists to shows their talents and works.
