7 May-Tumpek Landep

Landep means Sharp. Tumpek Landep is a traditional ceremony to devote Sang Hyang Pasupati, to sanctify any kinds of metal goods which have been helping Balinese in doing their work; knife, computer, cars, motorbike, keris, etc. The essence of celebration of Tumpek Landep is to sharpen the mind to achieve the true consciousness.

8-15 May 20th Annual Rotary Charity Tennis Tournament

Promising a better and bigger tournament than previous ones, Rotary Club Bali Nusa Dua (RCBND) will hold its 20th Annual Rotary Charity Tennis Tournament on the Tennis Court at Westin Resort, Conrad Resort & Spa, Nikko Hotel & Spa, and the Nusa Dua Beach Hotel. This year RCBND has attracted tennis players from Jakarta, Bali, and even Australia. Seeing this enthusiasm, RCBND wishes that they can raise much more funds to privileged children on Bali. Last year this largest and popular charity tennis tournament successfully generated some Rp 50.000.000.

17 May-Waisak

This national day is a special day for Buddhists to celebrate the birth and life of Buddha. You may easily see in Kuta or Nusa Kambangan Street or along the road heading to Nusa Dua, many temples are decorated and Buddhists will be deeply absorbed in prayer and ceremony. The celebration Waisak in Indonesia is actually centralized at Borobudur, but in Bali the essence of the ceremony and enthusiasm of Buddhists can also be felt.

20 May-National Awakening Day

Indonesia was in a big crisis of confidence and self-respect that they could do nothing toward the colonialism. But in 20th May 1908, some educated Indonesian youngsters realized that Indonesian people had to be brave to do something against the Dutch, to be nationalists, to grab the independence. The first native political society in Dutch East Indies named Budi Utomo was established. The activities of Budi Utomo which were mainly on improving the masses education and culture obviously attracted some others intellectuals to participate.
