Kalima (fifth month): Autumn Season in Bali
Autumn season for Bali begins at the beginning of the fifth month (Kalima) of Caka Lunar calendar (around October). The rain of Kalima (fifth month) makes the flowers which bloomed in Kapat (fourth month) falls to the ground. Though the rainfall not as high as the eighth month (kaulu) but it is enough to create an occasional flood known as “blabur kalima” (flood of the fifth month) by the Balinese.
Kalima is the month of insect, the rain of Kalima brings out the winged ants from their underground holes. They come out at night and hover around the lamp until their wings fall down, and meet their demise. The fly is also increased in number and come in battalions out of nowhere, so be sure make some preparations to deflect their attack.
For Balinese, Kalima is a good month for wedding ceremonya and also a good month for having a baby , since it is believed to bring happiness and prosperity to the couple, and good fortune to newly born baby.
