Mount Agung Will Be Closed Temporarily
There are so many travelers who are keen to climb up the Mount Agung to see the greatest vistas. The trip which cost hours is worth since the peak of Mount Agung will present beautiful sunrise and the view of Bali Island entirely. Unfortunately, it seems you should cancel the climbing scheduled to be done in recent days. Mount Agung will be closed from Monday (14/3) up to Monday (4/4).
The climbing activities will be deactivated temporarily since during those days a big ceremony “Ida Batara Turun Kabeh” will be held in Besakih, mother of temple in Bali. Besakih is situated on the foothill of Mount Agung. Thus the temporarily closure is aimed to pay respect to the big ceremony. “At the end of ceremony on April 4th the climbing activity will open normally,” said Mount Agung Mountaineering Coordinator, Nengah Madia.
Madia explained that this is a regular procedure when Batara Turun Kabeh ceremony is held annually. During two weeks Ida Batara Turun Kabeh meaning “All Goddess Present , Hindu community will flock Besakih including students who will face the National final exams to invoke the blessings. Generally this sacred ceremony held on the full moon is aimed to cleanse the earth and to invoke the vitality of life. As a matter of fact this ceremony is a part of series including Tawur Agung Kasanga. (exorcism on a day before Nyepi).
So for those who have a plan to climb Mount Agung and relish the majestic views in recent days better you cancel it. And change it with religious excursion to Besakih temple.
