Ngusaba Guling Timbrah
On Tuesday, February 1, 2011, inhabitants of Timbrah Village in Karangsem Regency held a unique annual ceremony that is called Ngusaba Dalem or Ngusaba Guling. In this ceremony each family offers a roasted pig to Ida Batari Durga (Shiva’s consort) as a symbol of gratitude as well as a request for prosperity and happiness. The ceremony was held in Pura Dalem Desa Pakraman Timbrah.
Offering a roasted pig in this ceremony is not an obligatory, it is all based on the willingness of the village members. For the families that are not in good financial situation usually offers roasted duck and the other families will support them by sending them gifts. But in this year ceremony almost all families offered an offering of roasted pig and other paraphernalia. There was 789 roasted pigs offered in this year ceremony.
There will be other ceremony that is called Usabha Sumbu that will be held on July 30, 2011. In this ceremony, the members of the village will also offer roasted pigs to the deity that resides in this temple.
