Why this langgar was built inside this temple? The answer can be traced back to the establishment of this temple around three hundred years ago by the descendent of Blambangan King of East Java, the King of Bunutin, I Dewa Mas Wilis. It was told the deities which reside in this temple demanded a shrine in the form of a Langgar, and the people of Bunutin fulfilled this demand by building this shrine in the inner courtyard of Pura Dalem Jawa.

Unlike ordinary langgar that can be found in Java or other place in Indonesia, the langgar shrine in Pura Dalem Jawa has four small shrines inside of it. Each of these shrines respectively is dedicated to the goddess Saraswati (goddess of knowledge), the great sage Danghyang Nirartha, the deities of Dalem Blambangan, and the god of Mount Agung.
