Denpasar Municipality Ogoh-ogoh Competition that was held to celebrate Nyepi holiday as well as Caka New Year was over and the announcement of the winner was held yesterday 3/19/2008. Representations from 24 youth organizations that competed on this competition attend the announcement ceremony.

Ogoh-ogoh that was made by Dharma Yowana Youth Organization from Banjar Anggarkasih, Sanur entitled “Wayang Sapuh Leger” (Sapuh Leger shadow puppet) came out as the winner. Out of 24 competitors, the Ogoh-ogoh of Anggarkasih got the highest score 6,335 points. The second place was achieved by Yowana Saka Bhuana Youth Organization from Banjar Taensiat, North Denpasar (6.325 points) and the third placed by Werdi Sesana Youth Organization from Banjar Tege, North Denpasar (6.250 points). While the fourth, fifth and sixth places respectively taken by ogoh-ogohs from Swastika Youth Organization from Banjar Pekambingan, youth organization from Banjar Gemeh dan Eka Cita Youth Organization from Banjar Abian Kapas Kaja. Apart from deciding the first to sixth place, this competition also gave awards for best idea,best creativity, and best attraction category, 6 winners for each category.

The competitors of this Denpasar Municipality Ogoh-ogoh Competition created artistically good ogoh-ogoh based on myths or stories from Ramayana and Mahabharata. It is hoped that this competition can be held annually.
