Balinese Student Outside Bali Part 2
Thursday, March 27th, 2008 by Rina-EditorIPDN’s (Educational institution which is equivalent to University, aimed to turn out aspiring internal governments) students come from all of provinces in Indonesia including Bali. Balinese students who are studying in IPDN always do their duties as Balinese and as Hindus though they are in west Java for about 10 months in a year. They pray in Pura (hindu’s temple) which was constructed by the government and that pura is in vicinity of IPDN campus area.
Every year, the youngest class, in this institution, which from many regions in Indonesia, shows their own traditional art performance, including Balinese? “Last year, we showed dance. The girls were dancing while the boys accompanied by playing gambelan (Balinese music instrument),” said I Putu Riska Desthara, IPDN second year student. He said that Balinese shows always anticipated by others students. “Moreover, Balinese ever showed Calonarang but as not sacred as the original one,” he added.
