Gumang Hill, Bugbug

Monday, October 16th, 2006 by ablteam

Every two years, special ritual happens on fourth full moon (Purnama Kapat, October 7, 2006); One day before full moon, Pilgrims from four villages (Bebandem, Ngis, Bugbug and Jasi) go up to Gumang Hill, where the temple lies on the top. It is about 400 hundred meters high from sea level and four kilometers to the east of Candi Dasa.

Coral Reefs are alive and well in NW Bali

Tuesday, February 7th, 2006 by ablteam

After some diving on the North shore( Amed ), and the eastern shore( Candi Dasa), we settled on Pemuteran Bay as a launching point for a bunch of dive sites near the National Park. We could have stayed two weeks diving all the beautiful spots. Mejangan Island ( Deer Island ) was a knockout ! I starting diving in 1957, and was happy to see pristine coral and the fish, once again. Coral Reefs are alive and well in NW Bali !

We met a lot of people that would come to bali just to dive ! I would hype the Permuteran area. Amed was terrible, the corral has bleached out ugh one star rating ! Menjangan rates a five star rating. Candi Dasa area was OK, especially the tons of reef fish, 3 star rating.

Candi Dasa

We stayed at the Seraya shores and loved it ( very romantic).( Lady owner is Amanda , now managing Allila UBUD and Allila Candi …) Tell her Sue and Don Bennett recommend your site ( Baliwww.com ) .

The snorkling was great sailing from the harbor in Padang Bai, especially in a glass bottom boat for the guests that did not dive. Feeding the fish (bread) was a real hit, they went crazy jumping over each other. The white sands beach was beautiful, but the currents were stong.
