“A. A. Made Djelantik Room” at ARMA MUSEUM Ubud/Bali

Gede Rai (’Yayasan Walter Spies Bali’ and owner of Arma Museum, Ubud ) and Horst Jordt (’Walter Spies Society Germany’) to open an “A. A. Made Djelantik Room” at ARMA MUSEUM, Ubud/Bali.
This Permanent Exhibition Celebrates the Life of a Balinese Prince, a Humanitarian Doctor and an Artist
and is dedicated to the late founder of ‘Yayasan Walter Spies Bali’ and the Honorary President of ‘Walter Spies Society Germany’, the admired and much-loved Dr. A. A. Made Djelantik (1919-2007).
A Permanent Exhibition of watercolour paintings will be opened at ARMA MUSEUM in Ubud to honour Dr. A. A. Made Djelantik who recently passed away after a life in service to the health of the world and Bali. As well as being a specialist in tropical diseases and malariologist with the W.H.O. he was the first Balinese Director of the Sanglah Public Hospital in Denpasar and he made many contributions to the preservation of the arts and culture of Bali.
Dr. A. A. Made Djelantik, who painted remarkable series of vivid watercolour paintings, both naive and poignant, upon recovery from a coma just after his 80th birthday in 1999, was the founder of “Lestibia”, an agency for cultural preservation in Bali - as well as the “Walter Spies Foundation Bali”, which he chaired for two decades. Dr. Djelantik’s watercolour paintings will be exhibited from January 2008, sponsored by ARMA MUSEUM, the German Embassy Jakarta, the ‘Yayasan Walter Spies Bali’, the ‘Walter Spies Society Germany’ and supported by the family of Dr. A. A. Made Djelantik.
