Pangrebongan, the sacred events held 10 days after Kuningan Day, makes people come not only to pray but also to be entertained. After all the sacred precessions including ngurek ( ended in the afternoon, the Pangrebongan committee organizes cultural show just like puppet shadow, arja, and others. And last night, hundreds audiences were hypnotized by eight Baleganjur (a show performed by a group who are playing traditional Balinese instrument while moving dynamically) performances.

Although the audiences had flocked the Dalem Petilan Pangrebongan Temple’s hall from 20.00, they were very patient to wait the show which was started around 22.30. There were eight youth organizations from eight Banjar (the smallest organization) belong to Kesiman Petilan village who showcase their art works in which the theme is different from one to another.

The atmosphere was grandeur and pretty festal due to dynamic melody and movements of the gamelan players. Besides, jocularity was sometimes happened in the middle of the show. Among those eight performances, youths from Banjar Dukuh whose theme is Ki Dukuh (an old man) surprised the audiences by their painted faces. The children, especially, loved it. In the meantime, Banjar Abiannangka Kaja’s Baleganjur performance was very fascinating. With Klecan theme, through their play and movements, they told about cock-fighting procession. The two young men wore cock costumes and ‘fought’ while others encircled them, just like in the real cock-fighting.

Amongst them, in fact 7-year-old boys were involved in the orchestra. It is very proud to see that the boys are still keen to preserve the culture whereas modern games have been penetrating their lives.  This occasion also indirectly train the children to be a generation who never forget about their identity as Balinese. This thing is the thing that is wanted to see by the local government that they invited them to perform in Baleganjur parade that night and funded for their rehearsal. Besides, according to Nyoman Suhartana, the leader of youth organization from Banjar Dukuh, the member of Banjar also helped in providing the needs voluntarily in every rehearsal.
