Ubud Village Jazz Festival
The village of Ubud will host Ubud Village Jazz Festival in August. This new festival will be agood addition to Ubud repertoire of festival that is already included Ubud Writer and Reader Festival and Bali Spirit Festival. Ubud Village Jazz Festival will be Indonesia first jazz event with green festival concept. Ubud Village Jazz Festival will minimize energy usage by using LED lights, torches, recycle material and the musicians will use bicycle as a mean of transportation, not to mention the tree planting event that is scheduled during the day. Ubud Village Jazz Festival is planned to be a small festival with big impact.
Ubud Village Jazz Festival will be held at Agung Rai Art Museum (ARMA) from 9 – 10 August 2013. The festival showcases local and foreign artists as well as new talents and music students, including Peter Beets (Holland), Dian Pratiwi & Uwe Plath Band (Germany & Indonesia), Yokohama Association of Artist Orchestra/YAA (Japan),Joe Rosenberg and Jeko Fauzy Trio (USA/Bali), Koko Harsoe (Bali – Indonesia), Balawan & Batuan Etnic Fusion (Bali – Indonesia), Yuri Mahatma (Bali – Indonesia), Dwiki Dharmawan (Jakarta – Indonesia), Ito Kurdi Quartet (Bali – Indonesia), The Jongens Quartet (Jakarta – Indonesia), Astrid Sulaiman (Bali, Indonesia), Simak Dialog (Jakarta, Indonesia), Chika Asamoto and No Black Tie All Stars (Mexico-Japan-USA-Malaysia), Dewa Budjana Quintet (Bali & Jakarta, Indonesia), Pramono Trio (Bali, Indonesia), Eko Soemarsono Group (Bali, Indonesia),Sandy Winarta Quartet (Bali & Jakarta, Indonesia), Underground Jazz Movement (Bali, Indonesia), Openmind Quartet (Jakarta, Indonesia) and many more.
Ubud Village Jazz Festival will also features a workshop of local and National music educators to investigate ways of getting more young people interested in playing Jazz. Ubud Village Jazz Festival relies on a very small group of volunteers, the event taking almost 1,000 volunteer man-hours to organize. It is their exceptionally hard work and dedication that brings the festival into reality. Ubud Village Jazz Festival is putting a smile on the faces of 5,000 people, irrespective of age, ability, creed or wealth.
