Tiger Cubs:Madam, You’re having quads!

Gianyar, Bali (October 1, 2009) Having a baby is always a joyous event but the birth of four baby Bengal tigers is worthy of a major celebration. Bali Safari and Marine Park has now expanded its family of Bengal tigers with the recent birth of two male and two female cubs to seven year old Melly on August 23, 2009.
According to WWF there are currently about 2,000 Bengal tigers left in the wild today, spread between India, Bangladesh, Nepal, Bhutan, China and Myanmar. Despite being among the most numerous of the tiger sub-species, their future in the wild is far from secure. The birth of four at Bali Safari and Marine Park is a cause for celebration for conservationists as it is through ex-situ breeding programs that the future of the species can be protected. The tiger cubs will remain with their mother until they are larger and the needs of various other breeding programs are assessed.
